Countdown to 16 July – Get ready for the new Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 which fully comes into force
With just one month to go until the full implementation of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance of products; electrical installation companies throughout the supply chain are being reminded of their responsibilities in specifying, buying, selling and installing compliant products.
Under the new rules EU economic operators throughout the supply chain, including fulfilment service providers such as ecommerce sites, will have greater responsibilities in ensuring the compliance of products being made available on the EU market. Furthermore, the new Regulation sets out the legal framework for greater cooperation among market surveillance authorities, and between economic operators and market surveillance authorities.
“Everyone has a role to play in ensuring the safety of products placed on the EU market, especially in a market increasingly relying on online retailing platforms.” said Pierre Selva, Director Conformity Assessment & Market Surveillance at Schneider Electric and Convenor of MSSI.
